Questions to Ponder
When you take a math class, do you want to know what it's for? Why or why not?
When you take an art, literature, or philosophy class, do you want to know what it's for? Why or why not?
If your answers to these two questions were different ...
why
are they different?
Do you think of math as being more like philosophy, writing, or art, or do you think of it being more like science?
Do you think of math as being creative, or as being about learning facts?
Do you think of math as being able to be beautiful and elegant, or ugly and clunky? Or do you think of it as just being there?
