The two pictures in the top row -- an ancient Egyptian papyrus painting (Horemoheb presents Drink to Horus and Hathor) and the initial word panel of Psalm 114, from the Kaufmann Haggadah (Spain, late 14th Century) have a very different quality to them than the two below -- Masaccio's Tribute Money and Mantegna's St. James Before Herod Agrippina.
