Problem Sets for Calculus 2
    Spring 2000, Math 104

    March 2000

Be sure to check back often, because assignments may change!
    Last modified: March 29, 2000

    Due Friday 3/3
    PS 5: Individual Assignment

Section 6.2: 41, 66, 71, 72 (Some of these are tricky! Experiment and be flexible!)
    Section 9.1: 2, 6, 8, 16, 23, 24, 32, 34

    Due Friday 3/10
    PS 6: Group Assignment

    Section 8.2: 4, 5, 13, 19, 20, 21
    Note:
For 19, assume the glass has straight (linear) sides.
20 is long and involves a lot of different ideas. Some hints: a latitude of 45 degrees means the circle around the sphere that when you draw a line from any point on the circle to the center, the line forms an angle of 45 degrees with the plane through the equator, and the plane through the center perpendicular to that first plane. Also, remember the Pythagorean theorem or trig to find the height above the equator.

    Due Friday 3/17

    Enjoy your spring break!

    Due Friday 3/24
    PS 7: Individual Assignment

    Section 8.3: 6, 7
    Section 10.1: 1, 2, 9, 17, 18, 25, 26

    Due Friday 3/31
    PS 8: Group Assignment

    Section 10.1: 43a
note: 35 is no longer assigned, and 43a is due instead!
    Section 10.2: 8, 9, 15, 25, 33, 35
    note: I changed 34 to 35!!! It's easier!

    That's it for March's assignments.
Go to the problem sets for April!
